Online application form for SNAC-K data
General conditions for the application of SNAC-K data
- The Applicant will inform any relevant research-area leader/s before submitting the application (see SNAC-K organization). The Applicant will ensure that all relevant research-area leader/s are invited as collaborators.
- The Applicant will submit an online data application with sufficient information for the SNAC-K PI to be able to take a decision:
- If the Applicant is unknown to the SNAC-K organization, the Applicant shall send a CV and a one-page study summary.
- Add the names of all collaborators of the study.
- Include the names of the representatives from the SNAC-K organization in the application. These may be collaborators in the study, or SNAC-K researchers familiar with the Applicant’s work/track record.
- Before taking a decision, the SNAC-K PI will consult with all relevant research-area leaders. The SNAC-K PI reserves the right to: 1) decide about the extent of their own involvement in the study, 2) query the Applicant regarding collaborators and content, and 3) deny the application of SNAC-K data.
- For applications from researchers who are not known to the SNAC-K organization: 1) it is desirable that the Applicant comes physically to the Aging Research Center (ARC) for an internship if she/he is unknown to the SNAC-K organization; 2) the Applicant should sign a “Data Transfer Agreement” if they intend to access the data from abroad after the internship; 3) a two-step verification system, such as OneDrive, should be used in order to send the data outside KI.
- If the Applicant or any other researcher involved performs substantial data cleaning and/or develop novel variable operationalizations within SNAC-K data, they are requested to send new data files and statistical syntax to the SNAC-K Database Manager (maria.wahlberg@ki.se).
- For issues related to the economic fees associated with accessing or using the SNAC-K data, the SNAC-K organization will contact the Applicant as needed.
General conditions for the use of SNAC-K data
- The Applicant only owns the right to use the SNAC-K data for the purpose that is mentioned in the description of the research project.
- For projects that could have commercial significance, special agreement should be made with the responsible person and the Applicant if there are no reservations stated in this application.
- The Applicant agrees to, as soon as possible, when the research project is finished, erase the SNAC-K data and any copies of it and then inform the SNAC-K Database Manager and all relevant research-area leader(s) that this is done.
- The Applicant agrees to not give the data away to any other person.
- The SNAC-K data should be stored in a way that no unauthorized person can take/access all or part of it.
- Further information from the participants in the population study or their relatives may not be collected without special written approval from the SNAC-K PI.
- The Applicant does not have the right to transfer his/her rights and obligations according to this agreement without previous written approval from the SNAC-K PI.
- On this agreement Swedish law shall be applied. Dispute about the agreement shall be decided by a Swedish court.
General conditions for publishing with SNAC-K data
- The lead author will ensure research area leader/s involvement throughout the elaboration process of the manuscript.
- Research area leader/s should assist with verifying that a manuscript can be traced to an approved SNAC-K data application.
- Research area leader/s have the responsibility to guarantee that the ICMJE criteria for authorship are fulfilled. In the early stages of authorship planning, research area leader/s themselves will be prioritized for any of the following authorship positions: first, co-first, last, co-last, corresponding.
- The following funding acknowledgement must be included in all publications based on SNAC-K data: “Data collection of the Swedish National study on Aging and Care (SNAC-K) was supported by the Swedish Research Council (ongoing/current grant: 2021-00178); the Swedish Ministry of Health and Social Affairs; the participating County Councils and Municipalities”. The statement will be updated with the relevant grant number(s).
- The lead author will send a 4–5-line summary for all accepted papers to SNAC-K Database Manager (maria.wahlberg@ki.se) once the publication is out, both in English and Swedish, in order to be able to add this information to the SNAC-K and SNAC websites.
