The fifth collaborative online seminar was held on October 10 2025 as part of the partnership between SNAC and the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs (Socialdepartementet). The speaker, Professor Johan Sanmartin Berglund, Dean at Blekinge Tekniska Högskola, presented data from SNAC Blekinge under the title “The Mouth – an Important Part of the Body”. The presentation included data collected since the start of SNAC-B in 2001 and drew on findings from six different doctoral theses, among other studies conducted in Blekinge. The results demonstrated that oral health plays a key role in several diseases, including cardiovascular disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and COPD. The main takeaway was that oral health can be effectively maintained through simple, low-risk preventive measures that help reduce inflammatory processes, among which the use of an electric toothbrush is particularly beneficial. A lively discussion followed on how to translate these findings into practical implementation.
