Researchers and Data Collection Team Meet for the 2025 SNAC-K Study Visit and Research Day

On October 8, 2025, researchers and members of the data collection team gathered for the annual SNAC-K Study Visit and Research Day, jointly held at Äldrecentrum and Karolinska Institutet’s Widerströmska Huset. The event provided a valuable opportunity for reflection, exchange, and discussion around ongoing data collection and the latest research developments within SNAC-K.

The morning session at Äldrecentrum focused on the practical aspects of the study, including participant recruitment, interviews, and assessments. Presentations by Gunilla Svanhagen, Paula Sjöstrand, Giulia Grande, and Maria Henriksson offered a comprehensive overview of the study design, medical and cognitive assessments, and dementia diagnostics. Participants also had the opportunity to tour the study facilities and observe the data collection process in action.

The afternoon program at Karolinska Institutet highlighted recent scientific work based on SNAC-K data. Following introductory remarks and updates from Giulia Grande (Vice PI of SNAC-K) and Amaia Calderón-Larrañaga (PI of SNAC-K), researchers presented ongoing projects spanning topics such as healthy aging, biomarkers of multimorbidity and Alzheimer’s disease, cerebrovascular burden and olfactory decline, physical activity and cardiovascular risk, and the impact of cognitive impairment on hospitalizations.

The day concluded with refreshments and informal networking at the Aging Research Center (ARC), fostering connections and inspiration for future collaborative research within the SNAC-K framework.
