On May 14–15, 2025, SNAC-B hosted the sixth SNAC National Retreat at Blekinge Tekniska Högskola (BTH) in Karlskrona. Researchers and SNAC data collection staff gathered in a uniquely pleasant setting to share ongoing research, exchange methodological insights, and explore future research directions.
From the Stockholm site, several team members presented their latest findings, as outlined below. In addition, the Principal Investigators of SNAC-K and SNAC-Stockholm Äldreomsorg, Amaia Calderón-Larrañaga and Åsa Hedberg Rundgren, took the opportunity to express their appreciation—with a thoughtful gesture of flowers—to Johan Sanmartin Berglund and Mari Gustafsson for their dedicated coordination of SNAC over the past years.
- Bettina Meinow, Åsa von Berens, and Pernilla Alencar shared results from the SNAC-Stockholm Äldreomsorg database.
- Giulia Grande presented her recent work on blood biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease and dementia in community populations.
- Erika Jonsson Laukka gave an overview of the SNAC-K MRI study.
- Anna-Karin Welmer introduced initial findings from a recent qualitative study exploring SNAC-K participants’ views and perceptions of healthy aging.
In addition to the scientific program, the two-day event featured a vibrant social agenda, including a memorable visit and dinner at the Marine Museum in Karlskrona.
